Project:
Plant I, II, III & IV Filters Evaluation
Client:
North Texas Municipal Water District
GAI will provide an evaluation of the existing filters operation from a controls perspective, identify any potential gaps, and provide recommendations for improvements which will involve reviewing the existing filter operations and identifying opportunities to improve filter controls to ensure consistent water quality. The evaluation will include understanding of the existing operations, providing recommendations for improvements, and associated estimated costs. The evaluation will include a review of the existing Filter and washwater PLC programs; the control architecture; and the filter Operations. This project will compare operations to other utilities and industry best practices; it will review TCEQ guidelines for water quality reporting and ensure NTMWD meets and/or exceeds reporting requirements; it will review the loading rates for each filter and the hydraulics to limit surges during backwash; and it will review the current use of washwater rate of flow control vs. washwater pump VFD control. GAI is serving as the prime consultant.
