Water System Power Studies

The City of Fort Worth water treatment plants and pump stations have been modified and expanded with numerous capital projects over many years. The purpose of this project is to provide:

• Updated facility short circuit study and protective device coordination
• Arc Flash Hazard Studies
• Field labeling of arc flash hazards
• Staff training on arc flash safety and SKM Power*Tools® software

The short circuit and coordination studies and arc flash hazard analysis are being performed from the utility primary source of connection down to 480 volt motor control centers and 120 volt branch panels. Facilities to be analyzed include 15 separate sites. This included, 3 Water Treatment Plants and 12 pump stations. After the power studies were complete and the reports were provided, GAI conducted training for City staff on the use of SKM. GAI served as the prime consultant on this job.
